Can Statsig implement a feature to auto-archive flags when they meet certain conditions?

Date of slack thread: 6/14/24

Anonymous: Halloo, is there a place for feature requests?

Vijaye (Statsig): Right here! Happy to take feature requests.

Anonymous: It would be nice to be able to mark a feature for archiving immediately and just have it pending until the 7-day-no-gate-call threshold is met. It can be too easy to shut everything down in the codebase, then forget to come back 7 days later to shut down the flag.

tore (Statsig): Mmm I see your point. I think we were loosening that restriction (or was it the deletion restriction?). <@U04LUNKG8N4> might have more ideas.

Matt Garnes (Statsig): I think this is a bit different, you should be able to archive with checks now (I think, I know you can delete and I believe archive is doable also).

Matt Garnes (Statsig): But I think the feature request is to auto archive in advance and only do so if the checks drop below a threshold? That’s a cool feature and a great idea!

Matt Garnes (Statsig): We don’t have that yet (if I’ve got it right) but what you could do potentially that might get you part of the way there is use a scheduled rollout to drop the flag to 0% pass after some number of days. It isn’t the same thing as archive but perhaps you can have some weekly check for which ones became set to zero? Just an idea, it’s of course more manual and it also doesn’t provide the guarantee that the checks are zero. Thanks for the feature request we’ll put it on our list!

We evaluated Optimizely, LaunchDarkly, Split, and Eppo, but ultimately selected Statsig due to its comprehensive end-to-end integration. We wanted a complete solution rather than a partial one, including everything from the stats engine to data ingestion.
