How can we clean up bot-affected experiment data in Statsig?

Date of slack thread: 5/21/24

Anonymous: Hi Team, We have an in progress experiment, and in one of the days some crazy bot messed up the results triggering an event way too many times. Is there a way to clean up statsig results and remove that data on the next recompute?

Tyler (Statsig): Hey <@U067TD4EH45> - depending on how identifiable the bot is there’s a few things you might be able to try.

If you know there’s only a few days in an otherwise long running experiment that got impacted - you could try a custom query (using the explore tab of pulse) to filter out those days (CMD+Click on the datepicker).

If you know the ID the bot would have been using - you can actually just explicitly filter out that user using that advanced option under the explore tab. Happy to offer more in-depth instructions there if it is the case that you know “The bot was userID XXXX”

Anonymous: Thanks

We evaluated Optimizely, LaunchDarkly, Split, and Eppo, but ultimately selected Statsig due to its comprehensive end-to-end integration. We wanted a complete solution rather than a partial one, including everything from the stats engine to data ingestion.
