GENERAL

How can I handle multiple user IDs in Statsig experiments and integrate them using Segment?

Date of slack thread: 4/9/24

Anonymous: Can you use a Segment Destination Function to normalize the event for Statsig on the way out?

Cooper Reid (Statsig): Can you elaborate a bit more on this? Each experiment uses a different property as the user ID.

Cooper Reid (Statsig): The event payload can contain both IDs. Any events tracked with those IDs will automatically count towards your scorecard metrics that use that ID for randomization unit. You’ll have to:

  1. Use the properties field in Segment to populate it with the two customs IDs. (docs). Screenshot 1.
  2. In the integration settings, Click +Add ID Type and add those two custom identifiers to ensure they’re mapped from Segment. Screenshot 2.

We evaluated Optimizely, LaunchDarkly, Split, and Eppo, but ultimately selected Statsig due to its comprehensive end-to-end integration. We wanted a complete solution rather than a partial one, including everything from the stats engine to data ingestion.
