Can the same experiment be reused in different countries without affecting data integrity?

Date of slack thread: 5/8/24

Anonymous: Hello! Is it possible to launch the same experiment multiple times? I was thinking of the scenario of reusing the same experiment in different countries, but not at the same time.

Anonymous: It is still not clear what happens to the data or experiment results. Let’s say I launch the experiment in the UK first, I stop it, gather result and then I restart it for France. Will the second run have fresh data?

Tyler (Engineer - Statsig): Hey <@U06TWJJP05A> - it’ll depend a bit on what you’re hoping to have happen - so I’ll just walk through the implications.

  1. When you restart the experiment, it will restart for everyone - so if you’re still checking the experiment in code for your UK users, it’ll “restart” it for them even when you try to do that run for French users a. Restarting an experiment will also re-randomize any users who might have seen it on a previous iteration
  2. When you restart an experiment - we do preserve the results from the previous run of the experiment. If you use the triple dot to “View History” for the experiment - you should see a line item for resetting the experiment, that will have a link to those prior results
